The Priscillas – Living “The Dream”
The Dream was written by lead singer Jenny Drag about the late Pete Shelley with whom she was close friends. It is a celebration of their decades-long friendship and a lament to his death recalling the startling dream she had predicting it. Aside from their relationship, Jenny is a huge fan of his band Buzzcocks and their influence can be heard in the nostalgic lyrics, Gibson guitar hooks, and melodic harmonies. It is a dedication which piqued the interest of Malcolm Garrett, the graphic
designer famous for giving Buzzcocks, along with Duran Duran, Simple Minds, and The Members theirsignature aesthetic in the ’70s and ’80s on collectable record sleeves. The band is thrilled to have
Malcolm involved in curating the artwork and video art direction for this release.
Following their recent single Angela about the global women’s safety campaign #askforangela, the
band were featured in the LA Times and received accolades from world renowned producers Steve
Lillywhite, Youth, Barry Upton, Craig Leon, and Harri Kakoulli. They appeared live on Boogaloo Radio,
Resonance FM and continue to have regular airplay on Independent FM in LA, Dublin City FM in Ireland
and Love FM in Japan. It was deemed “song of the year” on the “From The Bunker” podcast and
reached number 13 in 365’s Legacy Charts.
The foursome – which includes Jenny on lead vocals, Taylor on bass, Valkyrie of The Lene Lovich Band
on guitar and Jola, drummer of Adam Ant – has just finished a successful UK tour supporting ‘80s icon
Lene Lovich and are set to play Pride Southampton before embarking on a European tour this summer.
They will host the first of their regular events at Walthamstow Trades Hall on April 13th as a co-headline with Ibiza dance hit wonders The Woodentops. “The Dream” will be screened on the night
and limited editions of merchandise will be on sale. The official release which was produced by Paul Tipler (Squeeze, Elastica, Julian Cope) is out on April 12th on Bandcamp and streaming platforms.
